5 SHOCKING TRUTHS ABOUT RODAN + FIELDS SKINCARE

They are two Stanford trained dermatologists Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields.

The cheesy skepticism that usually comes with infomercials sales quickly gave way, as word of the effectiveness of this acne product spread like wildfire.

After dominating the global acne market for over a decade (and topping over 1 billion in sales) Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields decided to cash in on their wildly successful endeavor and sell their remaining royalties of the company.

They could have happily ridden off into the sunset.

But they didn’t.

They decided to go for it again, this time with a brand that encompassed much more than acne. In 2002 they launched a high end skin care brand with their names Rodan + Fields. It was first launched in high end department stores and was eventually sold to Estee Lauder, yep Estee Lauder decided to purchase this brand. The doctors wanted to provide dermatologic skincare to the masses so they searched for a channel that would do this. They decided to go to this channel because they could change lives not just by changing the way their skin looked but by giving people like me and you the opportunity to start a business and build a legacy. The doctors had the fore sight to see where the future was headed to an online shopping atmosphere. I am so thankful for this.

But did it actually work?

Well, by 2017 Rodan + Fields Skincare was the fastest growing skincare brands in North America.

So how did they do it?



#2) RODAN + FIELDS SKINCARE DID WHAT HOW FAST?

Let’s sum this up.

They launched in this channel during a recession in 2008.

In 2016 Rodan and Fields grew by 84%. They were growing with Brands like APPLE and AMAZON, not just other skincare companies. This is what really resonated with me.

In 2018, a Private Equity firm TPG Global who has worked with up and coming companies like Uber, Spotify and Air BnB spent $1 billion to purchase a 25% stake in Rodan+Fields.

We all know the global success that these companies have had in their after math.
