That’s how I felt when I was trying to weigh the pros and cons of joining this business three years ago.
Is it legitimate? Can it work for me and my situation? What could I reasonably expect to earn?
We’re going to cover all of that and then some!
I want you to know that you are reading this from someone who is currently a R+F consultant, but don’t let that shy you away.
I’m going to be brutally honest with you about what it takes to have success in this business.
Let’s dive in!
THE RODAN + FIELDS COMPANY
Since you’re here, I’m assuming you are somewhat familiar with Rodan + Fields Products.
Maybe you know why this skincare company has become #1 in North America for the past couple of years.
There is a reason it has rocketed past house hold beauty names that have been around for decades.
It is clinically proven to work, and it really does.
This company was started by two Stanford Trained Dermatologists that have become some of the most renown dermatologists in the world.
The product effectiveness is ALL OVER social media the web with their popular before and after selfies.
SO LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT COULD BE IN THIS FOR YOU.
Maybe you’re curious about consultant perks, pricing, or earning potential.
Or maybe you’re trying to explore a little more to see if you have what it takes.
Deciding to start a business is a big decision, and since you are already savvy enough to be doing a little research ahead of time, it shows you are off to a good start.
RODAN AND FIELDS CONSULTANT DISCOUNT & PRICING
The first thing you should know is that a Rodan and Fields Consultant receives a 25% discount on all products!
For example, the popular anti-aging regimen REDEFINE retails at $208.
Consultants can order this skincare regiment for $156 after the discount.
This is a very significant savings for people who are already using the products regularly!
Similarly, the wildly popular Lash Boost lash serum retails at $155, the discounted consultant price is $117.
The discounted price, in combination with sales commissions allow many Rodan and Fields Consultants to get their products at no out of pocket expense.
RODAN + FIELDS CONSULTANT KITS
In order to join Rodan and Fields as a consultant, you will need to purchase a Rodan and Fields Consultant kit to help you get started.
What is this?
In a nut shell, it is your business startup kit, I like to refer to it as your “Business in a Box”!
There are 4 options available, and you can see them all compared side by side in this business kit comparison guide.
Your kit can be simple and informational (like the $45 business portfolio) or the full monte of products available (like the $995 Ultimate Kit). Which is discounted substantially!
Most new consultants land somewhere in the middle, with either the $395 personal results kit, or the $695 core business kit.
A lot of consultants have worked to earn back this initial kit investment in very little time.
RODAN & FIELDS CONSULTANT SALARY & COMMISSION
Time to talk numbers!
I’m not going to lie, this gets a little tricky.
Fist, you should peek at this consultant income disclosure statement.
This chart outlines the average salaries of Rodan and Fields consultants in 2018.
The top .6% earned over 100,000 while the bottom 61% earned less than $1000. If you happened to read the ** below the chart, you can see the top 100 earners were well into 7 figures!!!
Seems a little lop sided doesn’t it? not everyone that joins Rodan and Fields as a consultant intends to build a profitable business.
Some consultants sell to a very small group of people with the intention of only paying for their own products they use.
Others simply want the consultant discount with no intention of building a business whatsoever.
And as I’m sure you’ve noticed in the world of direct sales or multi-level marketing (MLM), some consultants start out guns a blazing to then completely drop it a few weeks later.
So, when you see large sweeping statistics about the unprofitability of direct sales companies, like Rodan + Fields, it’s important to remember these numbers can be somewhat misleading.
The opportunity remains ripe for the picking for a motivated new consultant looking to work to build a business from the ground up.
As a general rule of thumb, new consultants make 10% on profit from their immediate sales.
This number builds exponentially as they start to build and grow their business and acquire new teammates.

This compensation plan covers the company levels, pay out structures, and helps put numbers on potential goals you might want to reach.
Hands down, one of the best things about this business is that you get out what you put in.
The ones who are willing to put in the work over time can see tremendous compensation for their efforts.
If you’re the type of person who is motivated to achieve goals and willing to put in the work to get there, R+F could be the perfect opportunity for you.
RODAN + FIELDS CONSULTANT SAMPLES
Let’s talk product samples!
Samples are a great way to introduce potential customers to the R+F product line.
However, Rodan and Fields does not supply consultants with free product samples.
There are a couple reasons for this.
Most of the R+F regimens require consistent use over a period of time to yield real results.
It’s hard to do the products justice by only supplying customers with a couple days of use through a few samples.
However, they do offer samples for purchase of the products that produce more immediate results.
· The Heavy Exfoliating Micro-Dermabrasion Paste
· The Super Hydrating Active Hydration Serum
· The Best Selling Radiant Defense Foundation Liquid
· And The Fast Acting Active Hydration Bright Eye Serum
These products along with a couple of others are available for purchase through a consultant account for as little as $10 for a pack of 10 samples.
I have also created my own Mini Facials, by purchasing the Microdermabrasion Paste Packets, The Lip Serum and The Intensive Renewing Serum. I have purchased Organza bags online, add one paste packet, 1 lip serum capsule and 1 Intensive Renewing Serum Capsule with instructions.
Because I believe samples are such a great way to help jump start your business, I gift them to new consultants that join my team as a way to welcome them and also invest in their business!
This helps my new coworkers hit the ground running with simple and easy ways to share these great products with prospective customers.
RODAN + FIELDS BUSINESS EXPENSE
Every Rodan and Fields Consultant chooses to finance and run their business in their own unique way.
However, I’m going to outline what I believe are necessary investments to consider to operate a thriving R+F business.
First, in order to receive commissions each month (aka get paid for your sales efforts) you need to achieve a Sales Volume of 100.
While Sales Volume does not directly equate with dollars, it is generally pretty close.
You can generate sales volume one of two ways:
1. Your Personal Purchases
2. Customers who place retail orders
This is important to know when starting out.
How people like to reach 100 SV greatly varies!
Some consultants look at $100 SV as simply a business expense.
They fill their own product orders, purchase product samples, and business supplies to reach $100 SV each month.
These supplies come in handy in helping promote their new business.
Many consultants send welcome packages, thank you gifts, and other product enhancements as a way to stay connected and grow their customer base.
This obviously requires more financial investment into the business starting out.
But, a lot of consultants like to allocate this expense ahead of time so that the pressure to earn commissions is off.
They can focus on building their committed customer base and business partners.
It’s completely up to you and how you want to run your business.
Some consultants have no problem reaching 100 SV by selling retail products to one or two customer each month.
For example, one retail Lash Boost sale (of $155) will quickly get you there!
It’s completely up to you!
PULSE PRO BUSINESS EXPENSE
Pulse Pro is the second business expense that prospective R+F need to be familiar with.
Of all Rodan and Fields business expenses, this one is REALLY worth investing in.
It provides your personal website, and all of the backend business essentials needed to run your business efficiently.
Again, this is not a necessary requirement to be a R+F consultant, but it is incredibly helpful for people looking to run a serious business.
Pulse Pro comes as a free, one month trial, then new consultants have the option to purchase Pulse Pro for the $24.95 monthly subscription.
That is roughly $300 annually.
When you compare this business startup expense to most other professional business expenses $300 is very minimal!
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME A RODAN AND FIELDS CONSULTANT?
Yay, this is the part that I’ve been waiting for!
First, let me explain who this opportunity IS NOT for.
It is not for someone looking for a get rich quick scheme. It is not for people who tend to jump from one opportunity to another.
And it’s definitely not for people who are looking for any easy ride to a big income.
I’m not going to sugar coat it, “sales” is not always easy!
Some people will share in your excitement and happily jump on board with you, and many others will say no thanks.
With that being said, this business opportunity provides tremendous potential for individuals with passion and determination to see it through.
One of the best, and most motivating parts of it all is networking with people that are on this journey together.
You’ll be provided with comprehensive training, learn to run your own business, and eventually lead others.
The people that are willing to push through barriers to achieve their goals are the ones that will rise to the top.

COMMON OBJECTIONS TO BECOMING AN R+F CONSULTANT
Okay, it’s time to talk about the excuses!
Any reasonable person has a number of concerns that they think might prevent them from having success as a Rodan and Fields Consultant.
That might even be the reason you’re reading this.
It’s completely normal to be skeptical and unsure about how this might look for you.
But let’s dive into a few of these reasons now.
I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME
Did you know that most consultants start an R+F business while also working a fulltime job?
By making the most of 2-3 hours a week, many new consultants weave this new business into small amounts of time that work best for them.
They also use their everyday interactions and relationships to organically share their new business with friends and family.
I’M NOT A GOOD SALESPERSON
It’s easy to picture the used car salesman with slicked back hair that is overbearing and pushy. Good news for you- you don’t have to do that!
I want to let you in on a little business philosophy that the most successful businesses operate by.
People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it!
People identify with you and your motive (your why). They want to do business with someone that they relate to, someone they are comfortable with, and someone that will guide them along the way.
This means you need to be authentic to your personal style, your journey, and the way you relate to others.
This genuine approach is authentic, attractive and contagious.
You don’t use your relationships to leverage a sale.
You listen to others and provide value and opportunity to the people around you by introducing them to a wonderful brand and business opportunity.
I DON’T WANT TO BOTHER MY FRIENDS & FAMILY
Who does? With seemingly everyone side hustling something these days no one wants to coerce the people closest to them into buying something.
You need to remember you are simply presenting an opportunity.
Some will take it, and some will not. But simply offering a suggestion or sharing a recommendation is not bothersome.
Think of the ways we do this all of the time. We recommend a restaurant, a movie, or a new Netflix series (hello Tiger King!).
By sharing these recommendation’s we don’t get to benefit in any way, but with sharing R+F you do.
THESE PRODUCTS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE
This one of the most common objections to this skincare line.
And for people that have never invested in their skin before, the expense of the products can seem like a lot.
However, it’s important to know that these products are clinically proven to work, and meant to last for 60 days (or longer).
When you break this out to cost/day, it’s not as much as you might imagine, especially when compared to many other daily expenses.

IS THIS A PYRAMID SCHEME?
First off, NO this not a pyramid scheme!!!! Pyramid schemes happen to be illegal, if you weren’t aware.
Pyramid schemes look to award money to individuals who sign others up and offer nothing in return.
