Skincare 101 ~ Back to the Basics

Let's get back to basics with six common mistakes you might make when cleansing your face:

1️⃣ Not washing your hands FIRST:

If your hands are dirty when you cleanse your face, you end up rubbing more dirt and bacteria into your skin. Wash your hands first!

2️⃣ Exfoliating TOO MUCH:

Don't over do it! For Redefine and Reverse users, additional exfoliation (i.e. R+F's Micro-dermabrasion Paste) 2-3 times a week is good. For Unblemish users 1-2 times a week is fine, if you don't have active acne. It is not recommended for Soothe users, but may be suggested for certain concerns.

3️⃣ Scrubbing TOO HARD:

Use a gentle circular motion with light pressure with your fingertips. This is especially important with the Reverse Cleanser and Micro-Dermabrasion Paste.

4️⃣ Using COLD or HOT WATER:

WARM water helps open your pores, cold will not. Hot water will cause redness and inflammation, especially if you have sensitive skin or acne.

5️⃣ Not using TONER:

Toners help restore the pH balance to your skin after your cleanser. It is the next step in the cleansing process to continue to remove excess oil and dirt from your pores, thus minimizing your pores. It is also an essential step as it preps your skin for treatment products, serums and creams creating better absorption.

Your face is always exposed to the elements all year long, even inside. It is the one part of our body that we never cover! The sun, wind and cold weather can irritate your skin. Don't forget to moisturize, hydrate and use sunscreen DAILY!
